Many Mountains is a folk-rock duo based in Colorado, formed in 2013. The duo consists of Katie Rose Nelson and Dustin Moran. Their music is characterized by its genre-bending sound, combining elements of folk-rock with other influences ranging from Gillian Welch to The Rolling Stones. Their songwriting focuses on exploring themes of self-reflection and interpersonal relationships. Their songs are noted for their intricate vocal harmonies and alternating lead vocals between Nelson and Moran. Dustin Moran's electric guitar work adds textured and ambient sounds to Katie Rose Nelson's rhythmic acoustic guitar playing, often incorporating jazzy improvisations.
